: a feeling of nervousness that makes you unable to relax
: a feeling of nervousness, excitement, or fear that is created in a movie, book, etc.
: a state in which people, groups, countries, etc., disagree with and feel anger toward each other
The title of this book couldn’t be more appropriate. I felt it! After By a Thread, the first book in this series, I immediately had to grab and devour Tension. Let me tell you, Tension is exactly what I got. It struck me in the gut. I could not relax. The tension in this book was almost a character itself. Stella’s story continues and picks up right where By a Thread left off. The story is consistent in the wild ride this series is taking me on. Author RL Griffin has the gift to make me feel the story. Her writing is more than the words on the page and the story being told, it is what was felt between the words. The anxiety, the nervousness, it’s all there! Tension was unpredictable and fantastic. I really enjoyed that the story is not typical amongst the indie published world. So far the By a Thread series is fast becoming a favorite with many top qualities. RL Griffin tells a story in Tension. Period. The characters pull you into their lives and you feel the story played out more than just read the words. I couldn’t put this book down. It is not all feel-good, fluffy love and warm fuzzy feelings. This book solicited a deeper feeling and reaction from me. Give this book a try and get ready to feel it. 4.5 Stars

Tension By a Thread series Book 2 eBook RL Griffin Reviews
I'm probably going to get a lot of flack for my review, but I did not find it as good as the first one.
Stella in this book is trying to find herself after the attack. George and Stella move in together for different reasons. For George it is to help take care of her and know she is safe. Stella just doesn't want to go back to patrick's. Stella is not the strong person she was in the first book. She refuses counsling (which I find this to be a flaw in the book, I would think that the government division would require counsling). Stella withdraws into herself. The only person she truly lets in is Jessie (the football player in Atlanta). they develop a deep friendship that she refuses to give up even when it causes conflict with george.
Stella lets it be known very early that it was Jamie/jack that shot her (you find out why later into the book). however, she refuses to tell anyone who hurt her. Thinking he would just go away. Then jamie contacts her several times in the book and she still keeps her mouth shut. Jamie then kidnaps her, and what happens....she doesn't tell the authorities. I think that is what drove me most crazy about this book. the Stella in the first book would not have taken that. however, this stella had her head in the sand. She is kidnapped, beaten, and drugged...but oh everything is fine...? I had high hopes for this book because I really liked the first book. This one though, for me, just did not deliver. So much so that I'm not sure I will read the final installment of the book.
I reviewed this at MustReadBooksOrDie with my friend Shelley!
Shel This novel starts immediately where the first book left off. Poor Stella is waking up to a world of hurt--physically, emotionally, psychologically--because she's been a victim of a horrible terrorist attack and the person who hurt her is someone she thought was dead. She is literally and figuratively scarred and is having an incredibly hard time trying to overcome the strong emotions that come with such a horrific event.
Court I would have cracked immediately, but not Stella. She has the rage inside of her that makes her want to get back to her normal life as quickly as possible...but plot vengeance at the same time. I was very intrigued with the start of the novel and how we got some present details, but went back to right after the accident so we knew how she reacted afterward. I still cannot even fathom looking into someone's eyes as they shoot you in the chest and wake up to find they've left you for dead. Cannot even fathom it. It is insane.
Shel With cadre of support--her parents, Millie, Jessie, Greg, Patrick, Billy, and George--El begins to try to recover from the bombing but with the media following her every mood she cannot get a moment to herself. Thankfully George is taking his boyfriend duties very seriously and does everything in his power to love her and help her. He reads her moods and expressions very well and while he definitely takes care to show her how much he loves her, he also doesn't allow her to bs him; he calls her on her crap. I'm Team George all of the way!
Court Hhhhmmmmm...you will definitely have some conflict to being on Team George. Maybe that was just me. I couldn't help it. I can't tell you who or how or why but I think my mind was as all over the place as Stella's. I do love George, no doubt about it. But I also couldn't help but be as scared as Stella that he would eventually leave. Scared to death! Because her life is absolutely insane!
Shel El's anger at Patrick and the boiling hatred at Jamie is eating away at her and becomes a focal point of her recovery...especially the hating Jamie part. It creates a hardness in her that no one quite knows how to handle. Millie is hurt and confused about the Patrick situation and Patrick is constantly begging for her forgiveness. While El has to navigate that issue, she also is actively trying to plan how to eliminate her main problem, Jamie. It's complicated. Court No doubt. Complicated should be her middle name! Lol. I felt so bad for Millie because of government level clearance and risk of treason no one could tell her anything...and that was very hard. And just more crap for Stella to deal with is us wondering if any of her friendships will survive this.
Shel Meanwhile, Jesse, George's and El's families, and El's job troubles all become woven into this narrative. I loved all of these additions; they enhanced the story and kept me actively engaged in all aspects of the plot. Gah, George's family made me a little crazy. Court I could not take his family. But I did love the addition of Jesse that I was not suspecting after everything she went through in book 1. I find it funny that she gets along so much better with guys than girls, and I think that is a theme too here...can this woman and these men just be friends? Hhhmmmm.
Shel The last 15-20% of the novel was nuts. Just when you thought the crazy (edit) was over something else would happen and then the ENDING...well...thank goodness the third book is out. I shoved all of my other reading out of the way and immediately started it; you'll want to too. I loved my bad... El and I hope you do too! Court It was an insane rollercoaster! I had to process for a while, but had to hit the third book with a vengeance as soon as possible!!! It is that good. You have to know how this story ends!
